Trip North: Tuesday

We left York in the morning and went to Fountains Abbey. I really loved it there. The abbey is in ruins now, and for that we give special thanks to King Henry VIII. He seems to have had a talent for ruining things. The ruins were incredible though. We walked around for like three hours, but I could have easily spent an entire day there. It was beautiful.

After leaving the abbey, we drove to the Lake District. The Lake District is a bit like the Yellowstone of the UK. It is incredibly green and breathtaking. We spent the first night in a town called Windermere. The first night we were there, we walked around the town and I learned that northern England is quite a bit colder than London.
